Best Logo Makers

The shortlist

What is the best
logo maker in 2026?

Most logo makers can produce a decent first preview. The real differences show up afterward: how easily you can edit the design, which files you can download, and what rights come with them. We ranked these six tools on those points.

Our top pick is Design.com. It had the largest template library we looked at (500,000+ logos), an AI generator that creates new designs rather than only reworking templates, chat-based editing for icons and text, and a full set of vector, animated and icon-only files with every logo. BrandCrowd is a close second. It shares most of the same tools, files and licensing, and it has a slightly higher Trustpilot rating, but its library is smaller (380,000+ templates) and it offers fewer AI design tools.

The other four each suit a narrower need. Brandmark fits if you would rather pay once than subscribe, Recraft is useful for designers who want an original vector symbol, Canva is strong for everyday marketing content, and Adobe Express works for a quick logo plus launch graphics. Each review below covers the same ground: design resources, AI editing, files, licensing and price.

Design.com and BrandCrowd are owned by the same company, which is why many of their features match. We point out where they differ. The business examples in this article are fictional and are used to explain design decisions.

Why Design.com ranks first

Design.com and BrandCrowd were the only two tools here that offered AI editing for both the icon and the text, a complete file set with every logo, and a license option that takes a design off the market. Between the two, Design.com came out ahead on three things we could measure: a larger template library (500,000+ vs 380,000+), a generator that creates new designs instead of working mainly from existing templates, and more AI design tools (eight vs three). BrandCrowd, in turn, has more Trustpilot reviews and a slightly higher rating, so the gap between the two is small.

The other four rank lower on this list mainly because they are built for different jobs, not because they are weak tools. Brandmark and Recraft have no template library or chat editing. Canva and Adobe Express rely on shared templates and have no way to make a design exclusive, but they are far more capable for general design work. The reviews explain where each one fits.

The reviews

The 6 best logo makers and AI logo generators, reviewed

These top logo makers take different routes to a finished logo: AI generation, editable templates and hands-on vector work. Each review covers the design resources, AI editing, downloads, licensing and price, so you can compare them on the same terms.

#01

Design.com

Best logo maker overall

Professional logos with AI editing and a complete file set

Beginner to professional
Trustpilot
4.7/5 from 3,000+ reviews
Visit Design.com ↗

A well-rounded logo maker that covers the whole process, from generating ideas with AI to downloading print-ready files.

Design resources

Design.com has the largest logo library in this comparison, with more than 500,000 templates made by professional designers and available only on the platform. Its AI logo generator can also create new designs from your business name and industry, so you are not limited to what is already in the library. The company says its AI is trained on copyright-safe material. Both routes draw on the same assets: 750+ fonts (525+ of them exclusive) and more than 62,000 vector shapes. Because those fonts and shapes are not found in common free tools, finished logos are less likely to resemble ones made elsewhere.

AI editing

You can change the icon or the lettering by typing an instruction, such as "simplify the icon to one continuous shape" or "make the wordmark bolder," and then fine-tune color, spacing and layout by hand. Most logos need a few small revisions after the first result, and chat editing lets you make them without starting over.

The design decision

Consider a mobile bicycle repair business. A detailed racing bike would make the service look specialist and expensive. A simple wheel-and-tool symbol communicates accessible repairs more clearly. Use AI editing to simplify the symbol, then judge the name and icon together. A relevant, distinctive logo is more useful than the most detailed drawing.

Files and licensing

Every logo downloads as SVG, EPS and PDF vectors, PNG and JPG files, animated GIF and MP4 versions, an icon-only version and a transparent background. Selected free logos include the full vector set and a royalty-free commercial license. Paid logos come with a Standard license, which is non-exclusive and cannot be trademarked. The Exclusive license ($60/year or $145 one time) removes the template from sale, gives you full intellectual property rights and makes the logo eligible for trademark registration. Font files stay on the platform and cannot be downloaded.

Beyond the logo

More than 50 design tools, including websites, business cards, social posts, flyers and presentations, pick up your logo colors automatically. A free logo also unlocks a free website, link-in-bio page and digital business card you can publish at no cost, although downloading designs made with the other tools requires a premium plan. Other extras include printing on business cards, mugs and apparel with free delivery, domain registration, 24/7 email and chat support, shareable voting polls for feedback, and support for seven languages and nine currencies.

Pricing

Free: selected logos with vector files and a commercial license. Paid: Starter from $3/month billed annually ($36/year) or $9 monthly; Value from $4/month ($48/year) adds the premium website builder; Premium from $5/month ($60/year) adds link-in-bio and a digital business card. One subscription covers one logo, and the standard monthly Starter rate is $25, so check the renewal price before paying.

See Design.com plans ↗
Strengths

Largest template library; generates new designs; chat editing; full file set with every logo; exclusive license option.

Limitations

One logo per subscription; exclusivity costs extra; renewal rates are higher than the first-year offer; fewer Trustpilot reviews than BrandCrowd; font files cannot be downloaded.

#02

BrandCrowd

Best for industry-specific logo templates

Best for
Browsing finished logo styles by industry
Skill level
Beginner to professional
Trustpilot
4.8/5 from 9,000+ reviews
Visit BrandCrowd ↗

Close to Design.com in editing tools and files, with a smaller library, fewer AI tools and a stronger review record.

Design resources

BrandCrowd offers more than 380,000 logo templates, all created by professional designers and exclusive to BrandCrowd, with filters by industry and style. You can compare symbols, wordmarks and layouts before choosing a direction. It uses the same 750+ fonts (525+ exclusive) and 62,000+ vector shapes as Design.com, so individual designs are of similar quality.

AI editing

BrandCrowd has an AI logo generator and the same chat-based editing for icons and text. Its generator leans more on the template library, and its AI toolset is smaller: logo, business name and background remover, compared with eight on Design.com. That, together with the smaller library, is why it ranks second. For many people the difference will be minor, especially if browsing finished designs is how you prefer to choose.

The design decision

Imagine a dog grooming business that wants to feel calm rather than playful. A paw inside a speech bubble describes the service, but a restrained animal silhouette with softer lettering better expresses its approach. Compare both options in one color. Without a pleasing palette to distract you, the differences in shape and personality are easier to judge.

Files and licensing

Logos download as SVG, EPS, PDF, PNG and JPG, with animated, icon-only and transparent versions. Selected free logos include vector files and a commercial-use license. An extended license removes the template from the library for exclusive use.

Beyond the logo

BrandCrowd offers the same extras as Design.com: 50+ design tools that pick up your logo colors, a free website, link-in-bio page and digital business card with a free logo, printing with free delivery, domain registration, 24/7 support, voting polls, seven languages and nine currencies. As on Design.com, downloading designs made with the extra tools requires a premium plan.

Pricing

Free: selected logos with vector files. Paid: Starter from $3/month billed annually ($36/year) or $9 monthly; Value from $4/month and Premium from $5/month billed annually. Check the renewal price and billing period at checkout.

See BrandCrowd plans ↗
Strengths

Large exclusive template library; industry filters; full file set; higher Trustpilot rating and more reviews.

Limitations

Fewer AI tools than Design.com; generator relies more on existing templates; templates need adapting to your business name.

#03

Brandmark

Best one-time logo purchase

Best for
A defined logo project with no subscription
Skill level
Beginner to intermediate
Visit Brandmark ↗

The simplest pricing in this comparison: pay once, keep the files and the copyright.

Design resources

Brandmark generates logos from your business name and a few keywords rather than from a template library. Its strength is typography: clean, well-paired type-led designs that suit consultancies, agencies and software products. Its icons are less distinctive than its lettering.

The design decision

For a bookkeeping practice called "Tally Harbor," a calculator icon says accounting but adds little personality. A clean wordmark is often the better direction. Focus on the spacing between the two words and the rhythm of the tall letters. A restrained logo succeeds through proportion and legibility, and an extra icon is not automatically an improvement.

Files and licensing

Basic ($35) includes logo files in PNG and vector formats. Designer ($95) adds source files, unlimited revisions, brand guidelines and templates for business cards, social media and presentations. Enterprise ($195) adds up to 10 hand-crafted concepts and a font download. All packages include full copyright for commercial and personal use. There is no chat editing and no option to browse templates.

Pricing

One time: Basic $35, Designer $95, Enterprise $195. No monthly charges. Generating logos is free; you pay only to download.

See Brandmark pricing ↗
Strengths

One-time pricing; vectors in the entry package; full copyright included.

Limitations

No template library or chat editing; icons are less distinctive than the type.

#04

Recraft

Best for custom AI vector symbols

Best for
Generating an original symbol and finishing it yourself
Skill level
Intermediate to advanced
Visit Recraft ↗

A flexible AI tool for designers who want an original vector symbol rather than a finished logo package.

Design resources

Recraft generates vector artwork from a text prompt, which makes it useful when your idea is more specific than any template. It produces a symbol, not a complete logo. Typography, spacing and the final layouts remain separate design tasks.

The design decision

For a ceramics studio, try generating the negative space between two overlapping clay forms instead of a detailed vase. Ask for the symbol without lettering, remove unnecessary details from the paths, and pair it with type yourself. Uneven joins that look handmade in a large preview can look accidental on a small stamp.

Files and licensing

Vector generation exports SVG files. Images made on the free plan are owned by Recraft, appear in its public gallery and cannot be used commercially. Images made on a paid plan come with ownership and commercial rights, which continue after the subscription ends.

Pricing

Free: limited credits, no commercial rights. Basic: $12 monthly or $10/month billed annually (1,000 credits). Pro: $20 monthly or $16/month billed annually (2,000 credits).

See Recraft pricing ↗
Strengths

Original vector symbols; flexible style control; ownership on paid plans.

Limitations

No templates or logo layouts; type and cleanup require design skills.

#05

Canva

Best for everyday branded content

Best for
Using a finished logo across marketing materials
Skill level
Beginner to intermediate
Visit Canva ↗

A strong design tool for everything around a logo, but a fairly basic one for creating the logo itself.

Design resources

Canva offers logo templates, a large font and graphics library, and collaboration tools for teams. Its templates and fonts are shared by a very large user base, so a logo built from an unedited template can look similar to many others. Its real strength is using an approved identity consistently across social posts, presentations, flyers and documents.

The design decision

A bakery may need its name on packaging and new promotional graphics every week. Keep the logo stable while the photos, offers and layouts change around it. If you design the logo in Canva, customize the lettering and avoid stock icons. An unchanged cupcake icon and template font can make one bakery look like many others.

Files and licensing

The free plan exports PNG, JPG and PDF files. SVG export and transparent backgrounds require a paid plan. Canva's license does not allow its stock elements to be used as part of a trademark, so a logo you plan to register should be built from original artwork.

Pricing

Free: core design tools. Pro: $144/year for one person in the US, equivalent to $12/month billed annually. Business: $250/year per person.

See Canva pricing ↗
Strengths

Easy editing; team collaboration; wide range of marketing formats.

Limitations

Shared templates; SVG needs a paid plan; stock elements cannot be trademarked.

#06

Adobe Express

Best for a simple launch package

Best for
A straightforward logo plus launch graphics
Skill level
Beginner to intermediate
Visit Adobe Express ↗

A practical option when the logo, the announcement and the first promotional materials are created together.

Design resources

Adobe Express builds a logo from your business name, a style and an icon, then lets you continue editing in its wider design app with Adobe Fonts and Firefly generative AI. It is quick to use, but the logo templates are shared and there is no chat editing or automatic logo system.

The design decision

For a community repair workshop, use a readable name and one simple repair-related symbol. Avoid combining a wrench, plug, chair and sewing needle in one mark. Those details belong on the event poster. The logo only needs enough character to identify the workshop consistently.

Files and licensing

Logos can be created and downloaded free as PNG and JPG files. If a sign maker or printer needs editable vector artwork, check the export options before committing, because a finished vector file may require another design tool.

Pricing

Free: logo creation and downloads. Premium: $9.99/month, billed monthly, adding premium assets and more generative credits.

See Adobe Express pricing ↗
Strengths

Guided logo creation; free downloads; connected launch-content tools.

Limitations

Shared templates; no vector logo export for print suppliers; no exclusivity option.

Beyond the feature list

What makes AI logos
look professionally designed?

Most AI logos online look generic for the same reasons. The best AI logo designs usually come from what you remove, how you arrange what remains, and how well the result fits the business. More detail often makes a logo harder to recognize.

Three decisions that improve any AI logo

01

Choose one idea.

A courier logo can suggest movement without a van, a parcel, a map pin and a road. Pick the strongest association and give it space.

02

Make the name readable.

Choose lettering for your actual business name. Check awkward letter pairs, narrow gaps and whether the symbol and type have a similar weight.

03

Change the layout for the space.

A shop sign and a profile picture have different proportions. Keep one identity, with horizontal, stacked and symbol-only versions.

A long name needs a layout decision

Take a fictional business called Northfield Bicycle Works. Shrinking the full name into a square avatar makes it unreadable. A horizontal wordmark works for the website, and a compact N symbol works for small spaces. Both are layouts of the same identity.

Website / full name NorthfieldBICYCLE WORKS

The name leads when there is room to read it.

Profile image / compact mark

The symbol carries recognition in a small space.

One identity, two layouts: a horizontal logo for wide spaces and a compact symbol for avatars and favicons.

For a new business, keep the full name close to the symbol while people learn it. An icon-only logo saves space, but recognition comes from using the identity consistently over time.

Step by step

How to create a logo
with AI, then refine it

To generate a logo that fits your business, give the AI a brief it can act on. Describe the business, the audience and where the logo will be used before listing colors or decorative ideas.

For Northfield, the positioning is everyday bicycle care: approachable, practical and dependable. A racing-style emblem would set the wrong expectation, so the brief steers the AI logo generator toward the service the business actually provides.

1. Start with the business

Create a logo for Northfield Bicycle Works, a neighborhood repair shop for everyday riders. Use a readable wordmark and a simple geometric symbol suggesting dependable movement. It should feel approachable, not like a racing team. Use blue and dark charcoal, with a one-color version. Avoid detailed bicycle illustrations, speed flames and mockup backgrounds.

Once you have a promising direction, stop asking for new logos and start making specific revisions. Tools with chat-based editing, such as Design.com and BrandCrowd, apply each instruction to the logo you selected instead of generating a new one.

2. Then direct the edit

Keep the business name and the current layout. Simplify the symbol to one continuous shape, open the narrow internal gap and make the symbol's visual weight closer to the lettering. Keep the color palette unchanged.

Check the result at the size it will be used. A narrow gap can close up on a small sticker even when it looks generous in the editor. Fix one problem at a time, then save the approved version. The goal is one coherent logo, not a long list of alternatives.

Files and licensing

Free logos, file formats and licensing: what you actually get

Before choosing a logo maker online, decide what "finished" means for your project. A social media profile, a sign supplier and a trademark filing each need something different.

Free access, downloads and licensing by logo maker. Checked September 30, 2026.
Logo makerFree logosVector filesCan the design be exclusive?
Design.com Selected logos, with a commercial license SVG, EPS and PDF on every logo Yes. The Exclusive license removes the template and allows trademark registration.
BrandCrowd Selected logos, with a commercial license SVG, EPS and PDF on every logo Yes. An extended license removes the template from the library.
Brandmark Free to generate; download is paid Included from the $35 Basic package Full copyright on purchase; logos are generated, not taken from templates.
Recraft Free images are public and not for commercial use SVG You own images made on a paid plan.
Canva Free PNG, JPG and PDF downloads SVG on paid plans No. Stock elements cannot be part of a trademark.
Adobe Express Free PNG and JPG downloads Not available from the logo flow No exclusivity option.

A usable logo is more than one file

Keep a vector master, transparent PNGs, and full-color, black and reversed (white) versions, plus a compact layout for small spaces. Open a downloaded SVG or PDF in a design editor to confirm it contains real vector paths. These formats can also hold embedded images, so the file extension alone does not prove the artwork is a vector.

Ask your supplier what they need before you order. A sign maker may need outlined paths, and an embroiderer may need to digitize the artwork for a particular fabric and stitch size.

Commercial use is not the same as exclusivity

A commercial license lets you use a logo in your business. It does not stop another business from using the same template, and it does not make the logo eligible for trademark registration. On Design.com, the Free and Standard licenses are non-exclusive, while the Exclusive license removes the design from sale and allows a trademark filing. If you plan to register your logo, choose an exclusive option and search the USPTO database before filing.

Common questions

Logo maker
FAQs

What is the best logo maker in 2026?

Design.com is our top pick for 2026. It had the largest template library in our comparison (500,000+ logos), an AI generator that creates new designs, chat-based editing for icons and text, and SVG, EPS, PDF, animated and icon-only files with every logo. BrandCrowd is a close second, with similar files and licensing, a smaller library, fewer AI tools and a slightly higher Trustpilot rating.

What is the best free logo maker?

Design.com and BrandCrowd offer the most complete free logos in our comparison: selected designs download with vector files (SVG, EPS and PDF) and a commercial-use license. Canva and Adobe Express let you create and download logos free as image files, but vector export is either paid or not available.

Which AI logo maker offers free SVG downloads?

Design.com and BrandCrowd both include SVG, EPS and PDF files with their selected free logos. The rest of their catalog requires a paid plan. Recraft exports SVG, but images made on its free plan cannot be used commercially.

Can I edit an AI-generated logo using chat?

Yes. Design.com and BrandCrowd let you change a logo's icon or lettering by typing an instruction, then adjust color, spacing and layout by hand. Recraft lets you regenerate with a new prompt, but it does not edit a finished logo layout.

Is Canva a good logo maker?

Canva is a strong design tool for marketing content but a basic logo maker. Its templates and fonts are shared by a very large user base, SVG export requires a paid plan, and its stock elements cannot be used in a trademark. It works best for applying a finished logo to social posts, flyers and presentations.

Can I trademark a logo made with a logo maker?

Only if you hold exclusive rights to the design. On Design.com, the Free and Standard licenses are non-exclusive and cannot be trademarked, while the Exclusive license removes the template from sale and makes the logo eligible. Canva's stock elements cannot be part of a trademark. Search the USPTO database before filing.

What is the difference between a logo maker and an AI logo generator?

A logo maker is a design tool that combines templates, icons, fonts and manual editing. An AI logo generator creates logo designs from your business name and preferences. Many platforms, including Design.com and BrandCrowd, now combine both, along with AI editing after the logo is generated.

Which logo maker is best for beginners?

Design.com and BrandCrowd are the most straightforward options for beginners who want a complete logo package, since they combine professional templates, AI editing and a full file set. Canva and Adobe Express are also easy to use but offer fewer logo-specific features. Recraft requires more design skill.

How much does it cost to create a logo with AI?

It can be free if a selected free logo includes the files and license you need. Paid options start at $36/year on Design.com and BrandCrowd with annual billing, or $35 one time for Brandmark's Basic package. Check renewal prices before subscribing.

Can an online logo maker create a logo for print?

Yes, if it exports true vector files. Design.com, BrandCrowd and Brandmark provide SVG, EPS or PDF vectors suitable for print, signage and embroidery. Check the file in a design editor and ask your printer what format they need.

Our verdict

Which logo maker
should you choose?

For most people, Design.com is the most complete option in this comparison. It pairs the largest template library with AI generation, chat editing, a full vector and animated file set, and an exclusive license for businesses that plan to register a trademark. BrandCrowd is nearly as capable and is worth a look if you prefer browsing finished templates by industry.

Brandmark suits you if you want to pay once, and Recraft works if you have the skills to finish a custom vector symbol. Canva and Adobe Express are best used alongside a finished logo for everyday marketing. Whichever tool you pick, check the final files, the license and the renewal price before you commit.
